FFBS celebrate launch of Birmingham Council’s first modular home

Family Fund Business Services (FFBS) were proud to join their partner, Just Solutions for the launch of Birmingham City Council’s first modular home.

The modern two bedroom detached property, located at Heaton Street in Hockley, was manufactured by Just Solutions and unveiled to local residents, councillors and representatives from the housing sector on Thursday 13 June. Council leader Ian Ward hailed the council’s first modular home as an ‘exciting chapter’ as the authority strives to meet demanding house-building targets in the city, to serve a swelling population over the next decade.

The council’s housing arm, Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT), already has council approval to build a further 54 units across six sites over the next 12 months, subject to planning consent.

Family Fund Business Services provided white goods, furniture and soft furnishings to complete the first modular home and will continue to collaborate with Just Solutions, to provide a cost effective solution for furnishing the properties. Family Fund Business Services operate a procurement model, which shares their buying power and product discounts with customers, helping them to help more with their funding. Items typically supplied by FFBS include washing machines, fridge freezers, dishwashers, contemporary furniture, sofas, beds, household items and small electrical appliances.

The partnership with Just Solutions and Birmingham City Council will also help to increase the financial support that Family Fund Business Services gifts back to its parent charity Family Fund. Last year alone, Family Fund helped 2,269 families* raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people across Birmingham. They provided grants for essential items such as kitchen appliances, sensory toys, family breaks, bedding, tablets/computers, furniture and clothing.

Jill Wheeler, Managing Director of Family Fund Business Services said:

“We are very proud to support Just Solutions and Birmingham City Council with the delivery of their modular homes programme. We are delighted that our unique fulfilment model will generate significant savings; ensuring funding is spent efficiently, without compromising the quality furnishings in the properties.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing more of the properties built over the next year.”
