Company update, Family Fund Business Services
Family Fund Business Services (FFBS) has been shortlisted for two awards in the last month. It has been nominated for the Social Enterprise Team of the Year category at the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2021 and for the Enterprise Award at the Third Sector Awards.

Social Enterprise Team of the Year
The UK Social Enterprise Awards run by Social Enterprise UK (SEUK), the national membership body for social enterprises, recognise the nation’s most pioneering social enterprises. This year the Awards featured two new categories, one of which was the Social Enterprise Team of the Year – a category specifically acknowledging those teams which have demonstrated the strength, passion and resilience so characteristic of the social enterprise sector over an extremely challenging year.
Organisations were asked to evidence how its employees worked together to go above and beyond their role, leading to enhanced quality of products or services, greater social impact and/or overall business growth. The FFBS has certainly done this over the past 18 months as it has worked hard, and collaboratively with customers and suppliers, to make sure help was given to those who need it most.
FFBS will be joining other shortlisted organisations at the awards ceremony held at London’s iconic Guildhall on 8 December.
Third Sector Awards
In July FFBS was also shortlisted for the Enterprise Award at the 2021 Third Sector Awards. The Third Sector Awards provide an opportunity for voluntary organisations of all sizes, and the people who work for them, to celebrate their work and the real difference they make to society. After the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector and people throughout the UK, this has never been so important.
The Enterprise Award is awarded to a social enterprise or charity that has significantly improved its income from its commercial activities in recent years. In our entry we highlighted the impact FFBS’ work with its partners has had since we launched in 2013. In total, we have helped to deliver 1.7 million items to over 1 million households, generating over £6 million profit that has been gifted to our parent charity Family Fund.
The ceremony is being held at the Londoner Hotel on 17 September.
A winning streak
The nominations come after FFBS successfully won two awards earlier in the year; being listed in the Leeds City Region’s Digital Enterprise Top 100 in February and receiving Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber’s Tech for Good Award in May.
Jill Wheeler, Managing Director of FFBS, says: “Our award successes and the subsequent nominations are testament to the incredible work of the FFBS team over the last year and a half. Supporting our customers to help those in need is at the heart of everything we do, and the resolve of the team to ensure this continued to happen during the pandemic while facing many challenges personally and professionally has been amazing and something we are incredibly proud of.”
