Family Fund Business Services has won the Philanthropy Award at the 2023 Better Society Awards.
The Better Society Awards celebrate commercial organisations who are working to create a better, more equal, ethical and sustainable world. The Philanthropy Award recognises the impact FFBS have made by donating 100% of our profit to Family Fund, putting social value and philanthropy at the heart of everything we do.
As the Cost of Living Crisis continues, commercial organisations have a key role to play in supporting individuals across the UK who are struggling through this period of economic uncertainty. It was great to have the opportunity to celebrate the hard work and successes of businesses across the UK who are striving to make a difference.
Making a difference
Since 2013, FFBS has donated over £9 million of unrestricted funding to Family Fund, supporting the important work that the charity do to help low-income families with seriously ill or disabled children.
The funding from FFBS is used to deliver schemes that would ordinarily go unfunded, such as Your Opportunity, which is one of the few UK programmes for disabled young people aged 18-24, living at home, who lose over half their support and benefits when they reach adulthood. The scheme funds grants for lightweight wheelchairs, transport to appointments and clubs, day trips, white goods to aid independence and technology to improve young people’s quality of life and help realise personal ambitions. Additionally, FFBS’ funding supports Family Fund’s research, meaning they are able to better serve families and funders by discovering when and where support is most needed, as well as be able to campaign on behalf of the families of disabled and seriously ill children.
Through our partnerships with other grant-giving organisations, in 2021-22 we supported 700,000 households with essential products and services, with over £76.8 million of grant-awarded goods distributed. Through our unique business model and our donations to our parent charity, we are able to make double the impact: not only do we help Family Fund support families with disabled or seriously ill children, but we support the beneficiaries of our clients too, who need urgent help with the cost of living or other essential items.
Our continuing success is thanks to the hard work of the entire FFBS team, as well as the support of our clients and suppliers who we work with closely to deliver social value every single day.
