“As we reach the end of 2023, I’d like to reflect on a very busy year for the FFBS team.
This year, we marked our 10th birthday – and we’ve had a lot to celebrate. In the last decade, we have generated millions of pounds for Family Fund, and partnered with clients to support 2.3 million households.
The 2022-23 financial year was our busiest year to date. Our clients and their beneficiaries have continued to feel the intense impact of the cost-of-living crisis, and the demand for support has remained high. In partnership with our clients, we delivered £73.3 million of grant-awarded goods and services to over 700,000 households. This meant we were able to generate more support than ever before for Family Fund, who this year marked 50 years of helping families raising disabled or seriously ill children, on a low income.
Our impact was recognised nationally. We won the Philanthropy Award at the Better Society Awards, were named in the Top 100 UK social enterprises, and were shortlisted for a Customer Satisfaction Award, amongst others. We have a team of passionate and determined colleagues who are united by our purpose and show up every day to help others, and we are so proud that this hard work has been recognised. However, hearing first-hand from our clients about the difference our partnership makes to their beneficiaries, and seeing the impact that our parent charity makes, is more special than any award.
Although we’ve had much to celebrate, this year has been one of continued economic uncertainty, which has hit people on low incomes the hardest. As people across the country struggle to afford bills and essential items, and our clients deal with increased demand and stretched budgets, we’re here to support our clients and their beneficiaries – this year and every year.
I would like to wish all our clients, suppliers, and my FFBS colleagues a restful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Here’s to 2024, and another decade of delivering vital support.”
